Access Excess: The Scene Behind the Stage

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
February 23, 2010

Media Contact: Elizabeth Burke-Dain at 312-369-8695

The visual elements that often fade into the background of rock shows, plays and performances of all kinds - band t-shirts, posters, album art, post-event photos, fashion, advertisements and fliers - are the focus and displayed objects of Access Excess. Access Excess is an exhibition exploring the environment of an ephemeral event - a live musical performance - through the lens of visual artists. While the focal point of a concert is the performers, a plethora of visual elements are involved in creating and enhancing the experience. Artists such as graphic designers, illustrators, photographers and many others are all crucial in creating this environment from the designs on the merchandise to the promotions for the event.

WHEN: Thursday March 4, 2010, 5 p.m. - 8 p.m.

WHERE: C33 Gallery at Columbia College Chicago, 33 E. Congress, 1st floor

COST: This event is free and open to the public.
