AEMPP Records signs Brice Woodall and the Positrons
Signing Party April 17
AEMMP Records, Columbia College Chicago’s student-managed, not for profit record company, has signed its newest artist: Brice Woodall and the Positrons. The album release, set for this spring, will be titled Sine Wave Sea, and contains a number of tracks recorded during Woodall’s recent tour of England, where he recorded at Abbey Road Studios.
Adjusting to the decline in CD sales, and in an effort to be environmentally friendly, release of the album will be primarily via digital distribution. A limited supply of physical CDs will be pressed and will be packaged in a material that is made from 100 percent recyclable cardboard.
The Chicago Tribune called Woodall “one of five standouts from the local scene," and National Public Radio called the band’s approach to writing music “a fresh take on the pop song craft.”
To celebrate the signing of Brice Woodall and the Positrons, AEMMP Records is hosting a party at the Rhythm Café, 62 W. Huron, on Thursday, April 17, at 7 p.m. Woodall will perform a short acoustic set at the show.
AEMMP Records signs and promotes only one act each year. Two AEMMP artists have been signed to major record labels: The Bad Examples, a pop rock band, and dance band A.T.M.
