Don't miss the pre-show conversation and rehearsal with CJE artistic director Jon Faddis on Thursday, December 13, at 7 p.m., at the Conaway Center, 1104 S. Wabash, as theey prepaare for The Sacred Concerts on Friday night.
Jazz maestro Duke Ellington called his Sacred Concerts the most important work he'd ever written. These works, composed between approximately 1965 and 1973, combine elements of Jazz, European classical, choral music, blues, dance, spirituals and gospel. The music of Sacred Concerts reflects Duke Ellington's deep spirituality. A full concert choir, and special guest vocalists Maggie Brown and Paris Delane, and tap dancer Brill Barrett, join the CJE for an evening of extraordinary music on Friday, December 14, at 8 p.m., at the Harris Theater in Millennium Park.
